Lead Climbing Level 1

Also known as “How do you get the rope up there?”

Open the world of climbing independently outdoors.

Get instruction directly from ACMG certified guides on the safest, latest, and best techniques for lead climbing.

This is for the aspiring top rope or gym climber that wants to take the next step in their climbing.

This one-day course covers:

• Route selection, guide book interpretation, and site safety
• Lead belaying
• Proper clipping techniques and avoiding back clipping and z-clipping
• How to fall and understanding fall forces and risks
• Anchor threading, cleaning and lowering
• Rappelling

Your instructor team includes an ACMG Rock Guide and Apprentice Rock Guide with a 4:1 ratio, ensuring the best hands-on training with plenty of time to practice.

This course is for anyone aged 16+ who has experience belaying in a top rope setting and is comfortable climbing 5.8 or higher.

All equipment provided by R.O.C.K.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own shoes, harness, helmet and belay device. All of these will be provided if needed.

Course runs from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Participants will need to bring their own water and food, as well as basic supplies such as rain gear.

Course does not cover multi-pitch climbing, trad climbing, or rope rescue.
